Performance by the leading British performance poet, the rastafarian Levi Tafari.
Levi Tafari is a crucial, rhythmic, poetic consciousness raiser and rastafarian “Urban Griot” from Liverpool, England, the griot being the traditional consciousness raiser, storyteller, newscaster and political agitator. His words move to a strong reggae beat, and are lyrical, rhythmical, inspiring and often humorous. His performance work has a high profile locally, nationally and internationally, from Africa to the Caribbean and Europe to America. Levi has worked in various media - TV, radio, theatre, clubs, stage, community centres etc. and also runs creative writing workshops in schools, colleges, youth centres, prisons and libraries. His musical work is varied, ranging from working with a Ghanian drum and dance ensemble to the Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and his own reggae fusion band “Ministry of Love”. He hs three collections of poetry published and features in a number of anthologies. He was the first to use the term “Duboetry”, the title of his first collection.

Poetry day17.05 - PEN klub - the British poet Levi Tafari (see above) will participate in an ”International Meeting”, other poets will be Vojta Fabián - who will read/sing in Romany and Zbigniew Machej reading in Polish.

An English language poetry reading by noted poets Louis Armand, Věra Chase, Graeme Hetherington, Patrick Seguin, Vincent Farnsworth and others.
This will be a great event featuring a number of published poets writing in the English language who are based in the Czech Republic.

Poetic Bagels
Bohemia Bagel - from 7 am - midnight. Poems in both English and Czech will be distributed to all customers in the two Bohemia Bagel outlets in Prague, Masna 2 and Ujezd 12 for the duration of Poetry Day.
